The crocodile is truly a misunderstood animal - in our part of the world, they are thought to inherent malice and deceit. Granted, hiding the dead prey for a few days to make it taste better and easier to dissect reminds us more of the habits of a serial killer than of a friendly little creature - yet it is one of the oldest animal species that is still with us and that's for sure nothing to sneeze at, especially not when it comes to evolutionary terms! It is almost safe to say that our sweet tin croco is a little lady - but how do we know this? The crocodile has no sex chromosomes, and that's why it is only the temperature in the nest that determines whether it becomes a female or a male while it is still sitting and waiting in the egg. Now that metal is rather a coolish substance and crocodile girls love coolness, they will decide to hatch as such. If you wind it up with the included key, it will start to march and move its huge upper jaw, as if it was giggling - as we said before: it is really all just a misunderstanding.
